Love Your Forest 'litter heroes' have been busy

Since May we have been able to safely organise our community ‘Love Your Forest’ litter picks for small groups once again, due to the further easing of lockdown restrictions.

We are proud of and grateful for our dedicated ‘litter heroes’ who are quick to join us for these litter picks; community events that are a happy social occasion despite the hard work involved!

Here is 'snap shot' of the areas within the Forest that have been tidied up and how much litter was collected in the two hours spent on each litter pick:

13th June: Harrow Hill and Plump Hill

12 volunteers picked 28 bags and other larger items of rubbish out of the woods as part of the Great British Spring Clean (28 May – 13 June 2021) and for Love Your Forest.

They even collected discarded tyres.. What a clean-up! All this on a very hot morning.

Thank you Forestry England for helping us organise this and joining in and for Cinderford Town Council’s volunteers who joined us too!

23rd May: Edgehills and Plump Hill

13 of our community litter pickers collected 24 bags of rubbish.

16th May: Speech House corner

25 bags were collected by six fabulous volunteers. What a haul!

Hopefully these areas in the Forest stay clear of litter for some time to come?

If you too would like to share your pride in the Forest and are keen to join us on our next Love Your Forest community litter pick, simply keep an eye on our Facebook page for our next litter picks.
