Buried Heritage - join the Lidar survey team

Help archaeologists uncover buried heritage in the Forest of Dean.

Join archaeologists from Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service to validate Lidar survey data from the Forest of Dean.

Lidar is a form of aerial survey which has revealed over 1700 sites across the Forest, many of them previously unknown to archaeologists.

The Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service Lidar survey team are now starting their second year of analysing the Lidar survey data and are looking for dedicated and dynamic volunteers to join them, working in the area between Mile End and Cannop and at Soudley.

For further information and to register your interest please contact Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service Project Officer Andy Walsh at awalsh@worcestershire.gov.uk

This volunteer opportunity is part of the Buried Heritage project, one of 38 Heritage Lottery Funded community projects in the Foresters' Forest programme. Buried Heritage is led by Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service.
