Hartpury College and University Centre is one of the UK’s leading land-based educational establishments, with many close links to the local area. The College is keen to build relationships between students and relevant organisations and individuals active in the Forest of Dean to help both academic progression and employment, benefitting students and the local community.

How to Get Involved:

Opportunities:

  • Field work for secondary school science and / or geography teachers
  • Help with data collection for any interested project volunteer
  • As field work progresses and data is analysed, talks and walks will be available for any interested groups or organisations to hear about the studies

Before November 2016 this project will:

  • Develop baseline data from selected study sites
  • Pilot and refine research methodologies
  • Recruit volunteers and students

From 2017-2022 the project will:

  • Build relationships between students and relevant organisations and individuals active in the Forest of Dean to facilitate future academic progression and employment
  • Raise awareness of the importance of the features and heritage of the Forest of Dean to local communities
  • Provide scientific evidence to inform best practice management of the natural heritage of the Forest of Dean and provide possible solutions to conflicting problems
  • Provide a mechanism for student development and progression to employment
  • Contribute directly and indirectly to sustainable land management in the HLF project area
