Walking with Wheels

The Forest of Dean is a recognised centre for walking and biking to enjoy the heritage and natural environment and is well served by trails and other surfaced access. However, for those with physical disability or poor health who require some powered assistance to enjoy the benefits that most people take for granted there is currently limited provision. This project will provide opportunities for those who are otherwise unable to use conventional wheelchairs or similar to access the Forest of Dean. By providing all-terrain electric wheelchairs (called Trampers) for hire, at affordable rates, along with guides or other support, those otherwise disadvantaged will be enabled to enjoy the Forest.

How to Get Involved:

Opportunities:

  • Help to get the Trampers ready for use
  • Be a walking, cycling or wheelchair guide for users
  • Help with bookings and administration
