History of the Forest

Widely held to be a ‘special place’, the Forest of Dean has long been visited for the natural beauty of its rolling hills and hidden valleys. However it has not always been a tourist hotspot - indeed it has a complex and surprising history, which has shaped the Forest we see and admire today.
